Merlot is one of my personal favorites. Tonight I tried a new one – compliments of the second-to-the-bottom shelf at Hy-Vee. To be honest, this Blackstone merlot was the only one on the shelf I hadn’t tried. I felt bad, so I scooped him up.
Back at home, Lucas was getting the steaks on the grill. We popped the Blackstone before they were done. Flavors of blackberry and vanilla were delicious. It was a great merlot that could hold its own. Having a steak to accompany it was just icing on the cake. After enjoying the bottle, I glanced at the label. It also touted a hint of French bread. How could I miss the subtle French bread flavor! I can’t recall ever reading French bread as a flavor in a wine. But I really enjoyed the wine – so I must enjoy that flavor, too.
